“Intense…a fascinating look into how we are caught between influences of our past and present.” — Nick Allen, RogerEbert.com
“Starkly and yet tenderly shot…a moving and important film.” — Debra Davy, L.A. Splash
Twenty years after the sudden death of both of his parents, director Sabu attempts to piece together the circumstances that led to his being orphaned at the age of six and raised without adult supervision by only slightly older siblings. A fractured tale of mismatched marriage, immigration from India, schizophrenia, and his mother’s fateful choices emerges through multiple points of view, as Sabu integrates the differing memories of his sisters and brothers, relatives in India, and a painful delving into long-kept family secrets for a new complex portrait of the past he never knew. A Kartemquin Films production. DCP digital. (BS)
