Saxophone Sister’s musical journey began at the age of six with vocal and violin training. At the age of 15, they began to learn saxophone from the Indian Saxophone maestro, Padmashree Dr. Kadri Gopalnath. Since then there has been no looking back and they have successfully earned themselves the name — ‘Saxophone sisters’. Their musical repertoire ranges from Carnatic music, Hindustani, Fusion, Western to Jazz.
Saxophone sister’s appearances throughout the world include- The Little Chilli Festival of Asian Music at Purcell Hall, The Bath International Music Festival at Bath Guild Hall, The festival of One City One World at Nottingham among many others. They have performed over 5000 performances until now both on national and international grounds and travelled more than 17 countries. They are the recipients of the Rajyothsava Award by the Government of Karnataka, Padmabharathi award, Yuvakala bharathi award to name a few. And also they have made an entry to the Limca Book of Records for being the only women Saxophonists in the country.
In addition to performing, the Mona Khan Company offers more than 80 dance classes a week for ages 3 and up, and is actively involved in local community causes. Bombay Jam®, their fitness program, is the the fitness industry’s first Bollywood certification offering.
